just got a mail forward to give my views on swimming by the great dark lord admin.
Swimming is an awesome workout. involves a lot of muscular tension, forceful movements making you lean and strong really quick.
The drawbacks however include its lack of variety and range, swimming I guess helps lengthen the limbs, makes your body more supple, more stronger but the movements are the same and your body can get used to it within 3-4 months.
Obviously, there is an elite level in swimming, for which you need to train outside the pool in methods like weight training, intense cardio, balance training and functional training to make sure you get better INSIDE the pool.
Nutrition for swimming depends whether you have a workout outside swimming or not, I would recommend a low fat diet with plenty of vitamins, fibre and protein (note: low fat not no fat and not only protein)
If you plan to get slimmer through swimming, try out different swimming movements, take rests, drink a lil water every now and then, eat well, will work wonders.
P.S I was a national level swimmer
Love,
Ruby
