Music to Workouts?

Hi.. new here? To get regular updates/news from this site why don't you subscribe to my RSS feed or sign up for email updates. Thanks for visiting!

Something just struck in my head…

Does the music make a difference?

I attended a kickboxing session in mint fitness in Mumbai and I think it does.

I mean… just how many of you have worked out like monsters after seeing rocky? :D

or ran that extra mile, listening to: We are the champions?

So whats the point of this post?

Burn CDs which have inspirational fast music, you dance along with the music of course similarly you could run with it or lift weights as the music hits your ears: ‘we will we will rock you’

its easy to lose motivation, there is a saying here in India:

‘Kaam karneke soh bahena naa karneke hazaar’

meaning: There are hundreds of reasons to do hardwork and thousands to not

Many people who initially started gymming with me were like: who needs muscles, I have this I have that.

If you concentrate well on the hundred reasons which make you want to do the hard work, life will become way more simple

Yoga without a Guru?

Posted by Vinesh on September 2nd, 2007

This is an oft-asked question whether performing yoga without a guru is OK?

True, just as karate, kickboxing, music, dance or anything… having a guru in Yoga IS helps significantly. But then , you have to be sure the Guru who is teaching you personally is well-learned.

On a personal note, I have , without any formal guru, beaten Karate opponents to pieces, smacked them till they literally cried.

So what do we do?

Well, for one the meaning of Yoga is ‘union’ - Union of the body-mind-spirit. Yes, a guru will help attain this balance much faster but a false guru might prevent you from ever realizing this balance.

The Bottomline? Have a Guru will certainly help but do your homework, check with his previous disciples and make sure that the Guru is proficient in the branch of Yoga that interests you before you hire one.

And can you do yoga without a Guru?

Yes, provided you keep in mind the following

1.) You don’t go too deep in any discomfort zone which can lead to injuries

2.) You do Yoga with a very calm state of mind, not ‘I must get slimmer and impress blah blah’ desperate nonsense

3.) If you think you are wrong, ask yourself why you are wrong and also ask yourself what would make you right!

Ultimately its a self journey of having no doubts, being clear mentally, physically and spiritually.

Its a slow process and can take 4-5 years rigorous practice to be an elite in yoga but its worth the effort.

Yoga and your sex life

Posted by Vinesh on August 30th, 2007

Almost irrelevant to the main subject but both the guys and the girls can use the tips here.

First of all, doing the Yoga asanas prior to eating in the morning greatly deducts body fat.

But obviously there is more to it than just fat burning considering many of the complex poses and positions, taking into example the scorpion stance and the very preciese breathing.

The breathing exercises work on improving lung capacity increasing the time prior to ‘going out of breath’ yes, more stamina resulting into longer sessions and more repeations.

THe stretching improves flexibility to a good extent increasing your reach and comfort zone, in General… get creative when you can bend that much, it would also result to you being able to perform complicated positions without getting cramps and greatly decreasing pain causing a lot of scope for creative things.

Asanas such as bhujasana and the scorpion stance work on increasing your strength to a sufficient extent causing you to be able to use to switch to strength based repetitions and stamina based repetitions.

Asanas like the tree stance and warrior stance work towards balancing your body. Balance is needed to properly utilize strength and stamina without wasting any of it by turning to the side or something or tripping making a bad scene.

difference in looks:

Asanas like the Plough stance supply blood to the face, making you look much livelier and also deducts stress and causes optimism giving you the look which most girls/boys are turned on by… yes, the ‘I rock and I don’t care what you have to say about it’ look.

The fat burning and firming making you all lean and tight.

Yoga perfection = Excellent scope for trying out things in Kamasutra.

The freshness increases sex appeal a hell lot.

I will post something regarding kickboxing and sex life next.

So it also brings the golden question, how do I sort out which asanas will help in sex and which won’t?

Ans: All of them will help, do as many as you can.

Note:

A trick to getting mental benefits of an asana is:

for example when you are doing the mountain stance, think of yourself as a mountain like:

I am as firm as a mountain, as indifferent as a mountain or am I not? what makes me lose my firmness?

Something like exploring yourself by relating to these asanas, it helps you get rid of fear and bring mind-body-spirit into proper union
