No wonder Jordana Brewster plays Paul Walker’s loyal love interest, Mia, in the fourth installment of the street-racer franchise The Fast and the Furious. This multitasking actress likes to do everything at warp speed. Lately she’s been promoting Furious, guest-starring on TV’s action-comedy Chuck as the computer-geek-cum-secret agent’s ex-girlfriend, and trying to squeeze in one-on-one time with her husband of almost two years, slasher-flick producer Andrew Form (Friday the 13th, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning). She’s equally super-charged when it comes to working out. “I like action more than anything touchy-feely,” says Jordana, 28, who admits that she isn’t into meditation. “Most people calm down when they try it, but I have trouble breathing.”

Maybe her peripatetic upbringing has something to do with it. Jordana, the daughter of an American investment banker and a former swimsuit model from Brazil, lived in Panama City, London, and Rio de Janeiro before she was 10, when the family settled in New York City. She started acting at age 15, appearing for three years on the CBS soap As the World Turns. She attended Yale University (her grandfather Kingman Brewster Jr. was president of the university from 1963 to 1977) but took time off from school to make her 2001 breakout film, The Fast and the Furious. Since then, Jordana has starred in a handful of movies, including 2006’s Chainsaw. (She found romance with Form when she wasn’t running from Leatherface.)

Now happily settled in Los Angeles, Jordana says she’s had to figure out how to make her mercurial nature work for her when it comes to exercise. Judging by her looks, she’s doing something right. The actress talked to WH about how she outruns stress—and how you can stay fit and eat right without driving yourself crazy.

Get with the program “I used to get fit for a film, then let loose right after. I think a lot of people do that: You look your best for the big event and then slack off. But it’s good to have structure in your life—I like having a routine, because everything else…is so unpredictable. I do cardio six days a week, with weight resistance in between. I also work with [celebrity trainer] Harley Pasternak three times a week. I used to run, but can’t anymore because [it hurts my knees]. But what’s just as effective? Putting the treadmill at an incline of 12— that’s steep!—and climbing for 30 to 40 minutes.”

Break the routine if it’s about to break you “I used to work out harder than I had to. I’d take a spinning class and stress if my heart rate wasn’t at 170. But Harley says my heart rate should be under 165; otherwise, I’m working too hard and not burning anything extra. I’ve learned you don’t have to go to extremes to maintain a healthy weight. There was one day when I just didn’t feel like I could do weight training after my cardio, so I didn’t. You do have to know when to stop, or you can hurt yourself.”

Find a fitness role model “My mom was in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue [in 1978], and she’s a total gym rat. When I was little, I was dying to go to step class with her, but there was this rule that you had to be 16. So I snuck in. Some kids were trying to buy beer—I was trying to sneak into a step class. How dorky is that? My mom is in her fifties and she looks amazing. She came to work out with me at Harley’s studio the last time she was in L. A., and at the end she looked at me and was like, ‘That wasn’t that hard.’”

She’s only 19 years old and already an icon of the new generation of musicians. Taylor Swift is also a role model for girls all around the world, being the epitome of talent, elegance, class and common sense. Many say that, despite her age, Swift is more mature than most adults in today’s showbiz, and this also applies to her approach to a healthy lifestyle, as her latest interview with Allure magazine clearly shows.

Although with a delicate frame that would hardly require working out, some might say, Taylor knows that physical exercise is not only about losing weight. While focusing on staying healthy, the singer also trains to be in a fit physical shape that would prevent her from panting on stage during concerts, as she reveals for the aforementioned magazine.

“Basically, if I’m indulging too much and not exercising enough, I can feel that. I can feel a change before I see it. For me, working out is not so I can get skinny. It’s so that I can keep up my endurance so I’m not panting on stage. Heavy breathing is the worst when you’re in concert. You don’t want to see that if you’re going to see a show.” the stunning singer admits for the mag.

The best way to stay in shape for Taylor is running. In the same interview, the 19-year-old singer who broke all the music records in a while with her first two albums says she positively enjoys running. Also, just in case she does not have the time to go outdoors for a quick jog, she keeps a treadmill in the house, as well as one in her tour bus, to stay in shape in her home away from home. Running on the treadmill also helps her fight pre-show jitters, Taylor admits.

On a final note, when she’s not singing or training, Taylor shares she’s blogging or signing autographs. For an artist with her level of success and popularity, this one country singer proves to be extremely well-grounded, saying that she knows she is who she is because of her fans, and this is why she’s going out of her way not to lose contact with them. “I never would have sold any records if my fans hadn’t gone out and bought them. It’s so incredible to go out and sign autographs for nine hours straight. That’s just my favorite thing to do, honestly.” Swift explains for Allure.

People often make the wrong assumption that, if a celebrity also happens to be an athlete, then a healthy and toned body just comes with the territory. What we must never forget is that athletes too have to work out a lot and even diet to keep in shape because, for them, food excesses count in more ways than they do for us. Anna Kournikova, tennis champ, model and celebrity, knows that better than anyone else and this is precisely why today we’re going to have a look at her way of keeping fit.

For starters, we have to mention that Anna is no longer running in the professional circuit, which means that whatever muscular mass she might have had a few years ago when she was playing is now gone. But still, if you look at her, you know that hers is not a body that comes just like that, and that she has invested countless hours of sweating at the gym in it. Speaking of which, this is actually Anna’s secret – sweating – and at the same time her most powerful weapon.

Anna does a lot of sports and she often makes a habit out of combining exercises but what never slips her mind is to choose exercises that make her sweat a lot. “I love the feeling of sweating. I’ve been exercising my whole life so I really love it,” she recently told “People” magazine. Anna admittedly works out for an entire hour or more every day: about 30 or so minutes of lifting weights and then another half an hour, but no more than 45 minutes, of cardio exercises.

If this sounds too simple to be true, it’s probably because it is. Anna vouches that in order to get her body you don’t need too many restrictions either, but just a lot of discipline and enough motivation to keep it up. And we should probably all follow her lead because, believe it or not, Anna doesn’t even diet and she still has an amazing body. Of course, the key word here is moderation, she assures us. “I don’t like restricting certain groups or certain types of food. I think everything in moderation is really the best way to go. I try to eat as healthy as I can, which is not always possible. You know, I have my Burger King and McDonalds days, too,” she told “People” magazine.

With these in mind, it’s obvious that getting in such an enviable shape as Anna’s is not really that hard if we’re not lacking in the determination and will power department. All we have to do is take baby steps.

grab a swiss ball

lunge behind bending your spine as much as possible

hold for 10 seconds, repeat thrice

Be creative and try to figure more stretches with the swiss ball or hell! simply sit on it all day long, will decompress your spine enough to make you look taller.

Also choose the workouts in gyms that focus on your thighs and lower back will automatically straighten your posture.
